Cercis canadensis (Eastern Red Bud, Redbud) is a deciduous tree native to eastern North America. A small to medium-sized tree that typically grows to a height of 20 to 30 feet (6 to 9 meters). It has a rounded to vase-shaped crown and a short, often twisted trunk.

The bark is smooth and gray when young, becoming darker and developing shallow furrows as the tree ages. The leaves are alternate, heart-shaped, and bright green. They turn yellow in the fall before dropping.

Flowers and Fruits: One of the distinctive features of the Northern Red Bud tree is its vibrant and showy flowers. In early spring, before the leaves emerge, the tree is adorned with clusters of small, pink to purple flowers that bloom along the branches and trunk. The flowers are pea-like in shape and provide a beautiful display. After flowering, the tree produces flattened, brown pods that contain seeds. These pods persist on the tree throughout the winter and can be decorative.

Habitat and Range: Cercis canadensis is commonly found in various habitats, including woodlands, forests, and along woodland edges. It prefers well-drained soils and can tolerate a range of soil types. The tree is native to eastern North America, including parts of the United States and Canada.

Uses: Valued for its ornamental qualities. It is often planted in gardens, parks, and landscapes for its attractive flowers and unique branching pattern. The flowers provide early spring color and are a favorite of bees and other pollinators. The tree's small size makes it suitable for smaller yards. Additionally, the wood of the Northern Red Bud is dense and can be used for small woodworking projects.

Ecological Importance: Cercis canadensis provides habitat and food for various wildlife species. The flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. The tree's seeds are eaten by birds and small mammals. Additionally, the tree's dense branching pattern provides shelter for birds and nesting sites for some bird species.

Cultural Significance: Often celebrated as a harbinger of spring with its vibrant display of flowers. It is a popular choice for ornamental planting and has become a symbol of beauty and renewal.

Not for aggressive chewers.
Size: Large
Our dog is a 50lb Pit mix. This toy lasted about a week before he took a hole knuckle off. Happy he did not swallow it.

Perfect Chew Toy, Not Too Soft Or Hard
I've been looking for new chew toys for my 2.5 year old German Shepherd that are durable enough to withstand her chewing, yet aren't so tough or hard that she dislikes it and won't chew or play with it at all. I'm so glad I got this large bone chew toy for her because the rubber is just the right amount of toughness without being too hard. She also loves the bacon smell. Another good thing about this is that there are 80 round nubs that stick out of the bone and are flexible to help clean the teeth. You can even put dog toothpaste on them to really help clean their teeth. This is perfect for my dog because she doesn't like toothbrushes or finger wipes. She also loves to play catch with this toy and since it's made of rubber I can throw it & it just bounces around. This is her new favorite toy and she loves it so much that when my Lab tries to play with her or take it away, she does a little warning growl telling her to stay away. She has only ever done that before with her favorite stuffed animal. All of their other toys they usually share, but I'm going to have to buy another one for my Lab. There is a warniìng that says "Not for aggressive dogs." I definitely recommend this chew toy for medium and large dogs that are big chewers, but not agressive. This toy is a good value for the money and will entice your dog with the bacon scent, keep them occupied chewing or playing, & also help with their dental hygiene.

Colorful, Sturdy & Great Value
Color: Large Set of 4
Purchased for our two puppies when they were 2 months old and weighed about 14 pounds so theses balls were a little big for them to hold in their mouths but that didn't stop them from trying. While they did like these balls they much preferred softer soccer balls, the later of which did not hold up well at all. I had hoped they would play with these balls more when they were older but that hasn't happened 5 months later. I guess it's no fun if you can't tear the toy apart. Colors are very bright and they do enjoy chasing after them as long as I am the one rolling them across the room for them. Maybe when they progress to batting things with their paws they will start to do this for themselves.
